Can you not……

July 26, 2009

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.
–Abraham Lincoln

Durian oo Durian…

Mr. Thorny

Mr. Thorny

Studying medicine is like planting a Durian tree; it takes 5 years of sun and rain to mature and bear fruit.

Practising medicine is like sitting under the mature Durian tree (which you had planted); you will never know when an unsuspecting Durian favours the Newton’s law.

Pathetic I know it is.

But, if one can have the patience to wait and luck to evade or survive the trauma to the head, all the awesome yellow-orange flesh will be on his or her plate.
